In today’s fast-paced business world, staying ahead of the curve is crucial. Whether you’re looking to hire top talent, close important deals, or simply keep up with the latest trends, having the right tools can make all the difference. Enter Signum.ai, a dual-purpose tool designed to help you track LinkedIn profiles and monitor emerging internet trends. But does it live up to its promises? Let’s dive into this comprehensive review and find out.

Introduction [00:00]

Signum.ai offers two main features:

  1. LinkedIn profile tracking
  2. Internet trend monitoring

As someone who reviews a new lifetime deal every day, I was intrigued by Signum.ai’s potential. This review is not sponsored, so you can expect an honest, unbiased assessment of the tool’s capabilities and limitations.

Trends Feature [01:10]

The Trends feature in Signum.ai is reminiscent of Brian Dean’s Exploding Topics. It presents a list of keywords along with their growth metrics. When you click on a keyword, you’ll see a brief summary explaining the topic and potential use cases for different industries.

Browsing and Sorting [02:27]

You can scroll through the trends, with the option to view up to 100 ideas per page. At the time of this review, there were less than 200 ideas available in total. While this might seem limited, it could still prove valuable if the topics align with your interests.

Signum.ai offers basic sorting and searching capabilities:

  • You can filter by market (e.g., real estate)
  • Search for specific keywords

However, I noticed a limitation in the search functionality. When searching for “EV” (intending to find electric vehicle-related trends), the results included unrelated topics that simply contained the letters “EV”. This lack of contextual understanding in the search could be frustrating for users looking for specific topics.

Reports [03:14]

The Reports section provides a weekly newsletter-style update on new ideas added to the database. This feature is similar to newsletters you might receive from other trend-spotting tools like Exploding Topics.

Thoughts on Trends [03:45]

While the Trends feature is interesting, it feels somewhat sparse. To improve its utility, I’d suggest:

  • Linking related topics
  • Implementing smarter keyword recognition
  • Offering broader keyword searches with more specific, related results

Tracking Feature [04:12]

The Tracking feature is potentially the more valuable component of Signum.ai. Here’s how it works:

  1. Create a new list
  2. Select triggers to monitor (position change, job change, location change, specific keywords)
  3. Upload a CSV file with contact information (company website and LinkedIn profile URL required)

While the process is straightforward, there are some limitations:

  • You can’t add individual contacts manually; a CSV file is required
  • The tool doesn’t allow you to edit existing triggers or view currently tracked keywords easily

One interesting aspect is that Signum.ai automatically sets up a trigger for new job openings at the companies associated with your tracked prospects.

Signum Quirks [09:22]

During my testing, I encountered a few quirks:

  • The instructional video button didn’t work across multiple browsers
  • Updates to tracked profiles aren’t reflected in real-time

The most significant limitation I discovered is that Signum.ai only checks your prospects’ activity once per week. This weekly update frequency could be a deal-breaker for many users, especially those in fast-paced industries or time-sensitive situations.

Export Functionality [10:21]

Signum.ai allows you to export your tracked prospects to a CSV file. This export includes any updates that have occurred, such as location changes, position changes, job changes, and keyword mentions. While this is useful for record-keeping, it doesn’t address the core issue of infrequent updates.

Updating Triggers [11:06]

One frustrating aspect of Signum.ai is the inability to edit existing triggers or easily view which keywords you’re currently tracking for a prospect. This lack of flexibility could be a significant drawback for users who need to adjust their tracking parameters frequently.

Plans & Pricing [12:29]

Signum.ai offers three license tiers on AppSumo:

  1. $59: 200 contacts for tracking, single seat
  2. $150: 1,000 contacts for tracking, three seats, Slack alerts
  3. $299: 3,000 contacts for tracking, five seats, Slack alerts

The best value appears to be in the first or second tier unless you absolutely need to track more than 1,000 contacts.

Conclusion

Signum.ai presents an interesting proposition for LinkedIn tracking and trend spotting. Its dual-purpose nature could be appealing to businesses looking to consolidate their tools. However, the major flaw of weekly updates significantly hampers its usefulness for time-sensitive tracking.

Pros:

  • Combined LinkedIn tracking and trend spotting
  • Easy-to-use interface
  • Automatic company job opening tracking

Cons:

  • Weekly update frequency is too infrequent for many use cases
  • Limited trend database
  • Lack of flexibility in editing triggers and tracked keywords

While Signum.ai has potential, its current limitations make it difficult to recommend wholeheartedly. For businesses that don’t require real-time updates and are comfortable with weekly check-ins, it could still provide value. However, for those needing more immediate insights, you might want to look elsewhere or wait for potential improvements to the update frequency.

As always, I encourage you to consider your specific needs and use cases when deciding whether Signum.ai is the right tool for you. If you have any questions or comments about this review, please leave them below, and I’ll address them in the next edition of the Taco Truck Roundup.
